New Hampshire American Legion Riders
Services: website design, content management system (CMS) development, CMS training, social media integration
Like many nonprofits, the State of New Hampshire American Legion Riders could not afford the high-caliber web presence it required to effectively promote its cause online. So, when Danconia Media announced it would donate a web development package to a veteran-run organization on Veteran's Day 2010, the NH ALR jumped at the opportunity.
The site – located at www.nhalr.org – features content about the organization and its riders, a calendar of events, photo albums, a guestbook and a list of resources, among other things. We built the site using a highly user-friendly, yet robust, content management system (CMS) that the NH ALR can use to add, modify and remove content in-house instead of relying on a third-party firm to do so.
The website was well received by the organization's members and supporters. It garnered media coverage, including an article in the New Hampshire Union Leader, the Granite State's largest and only statewide newspaper. Alaina Murphy, secretary and communications director of the NH ALR, said she was pleased with the project's outcome.
“We are very impressed with how Danconia Media took our old site information and represented the N.H. American Legion Riders with their innovative design work,” Murphy said. “The staff is great to work with and work hard to meet your design and media needs. We are looking forward to continue working with Danconia Media with any of our future endeavors. The website is very clean, concise and easy to get around.”
The NH ALR has chapters in Woodsville, Rochester, Hudson, Littleton, Jaffrey, Lebanon, Manchester, Alton, Epping, Suncook, Rollinsford, Conway, Greenville, Hooksett, Merrimack, Marlborough and Seabrook.

Strafford Nutrition Meals on Wheels Receives Donated Web Site
SOMERSWORTH, N.H., March 26, 2010 – Strafford Nutrition Meals on Wheels has launched a new Web site donated as part of Danconia Media's grant program specifically geared toward Granite State nonprofits and charities.
The site – located at www.straffordmealsonwheels.org – was built using a highly user-friendly, open-source content management system (CMS) that the organization can now use to maintain it in-house. The design was headed by Danconia's Becky Gallant, who made sure the site's content would be easy for elderly visitors with poor vision to read and navigate.
Using the site, visitors can find information about Strafford Nutrition's services, eligibility requirements, volunteer opportunities, news, fundraisers, upcoming events, and even donate to the organization directly. Before the site launch, the organization did not have its own Web site. The nonprofit received its first online donation the same day the site was launched.
“It didn't matter if it was by phone or e-mail, they were there for guidance, building a wonderful site easy for seniors to maneuver,” Laurie Eastwood, Strafford Nutrition's nutrition coordinator, said. “With the help of their great staff, we are now able to reach out to people, receive donations online and let them know about our services that they or a family member might need.”Salem Animal Rescue League Receives Donated Web Site from Danconia Media
SALEM, N.H., Sept. 30, 2009 – The Salem Animal Rescue League today launched a completely redesigned Web site that was donated by New Hampshire-based marketing and design firm Danconia Media.
The site – located at www.sarl-nh.org – was donated as part of Danconia's Web design grant program for Granite State nonprofits and charities. It was built with a highly user-friendly content management system that will allow SARL members to add and modify content within moments. Danconia is also providing hosting services for SARL free of charge.
“They captured exactly what we were looking for in a very user-friendly Web site,” SARL President Lori Bertrand said. “I am delighted with the outcome of this project, as it will be used by our volunteers, staff, donors and adopters to advance our shelter's operations and save many more lives of companion animals.”
On the site, visitors can see pictures and videos featuring dogs and cats that are currently available for adoption, donate money to the organization by check or credit card, see upcoming events, sign up to be a volunteer, apply to be a cat or dog foster parent and get pet care information, among many other things. The site also integrates SARL's Twitter and Facebook pages, which the nonprofit uses to communicate with its supporters.
